Danville Ross, better
known as Danny Ross, is a new South African actor famous for his role as Jason
in the SABC series, SWARTWATER. He also starrs in the Kyknet series,
Binnelanders. I asked this local rising star a few questions about how his
experience has been in the acting industry.
What made you decide
to start acting?
Danny Ross: I
only figured that out in matric. I loved watching films and I felt like that's
what I want to do.
When were you most
nervous for a performance?
DR: I would say
my first time I went on a stage with a play called tata ma chance in durban at the sibaya
casino.
What were your most
embarrassing moment on stage/set?
DR: I haven't
really had a most embarrassing moment. I pray I won’t have any either.
What type of music do
you listen to?
DR: I know a lot
of people say this,but it really depends on my mood and what I’m doing.
What is your
favourite movie?
DR: Wow, I gues
I’m going to have to go with The
Godfather trilogy, oh and Scarface.
What is your
favourite type of food?
DR: My mom’s stew
(lol).
If you could have any
other talent, what would it be and why?
DR: I don’t know.
I’m satisfied with my gift. I work hard at my craft. I don’t wish to have
anything else, but I’d like to be spiderman (lol).
Who inspired you to
start acting?
DR: I’d have to
say Mr.bean. he didn’t use much words
but as a kid you knew exactly what he was saying and also my god of acting, Al Pacino. :)
What has been the
biggest moment of your career so far?
DR: Being in two
programs at the same time, Binnelanders
and Swartwater.
If you could act with any actor, who would it
be?
DR:
Al Pacino.
What has been your
favourite production to work on?
DR: Definitely Swartwater.
How was it to shoot
Swartwater?
DR: It was a
humbling and great learning experience. I enjoyed it. Also it’s been the
biggest role I’ve had thus far.
What's your favourite
tv series and who would you be in it?
DR: Honestly I
don’t watch any series, it’s been a while. I mostly watch films.
What are you looking
forward to in 2014?
DR: I’m looking
forward to working as an actor. It’s my 7th year in the industry. To work is a
blessing.
What do you have
planned for 2014?
DR: I’m starting
to shoot on 2 new projects in July. It’s still confidential. Sorry.x
What advice would you
give to new actors in the industry?
DR: Get use to
rejection. Always keep an open mind. Be willing to learn, you never know it all.
Believe you are the best, but keep honing your craft . Always.
Danville Ross Rocks! I saw him few days ago in his/our hometown, was there for easter weekend, and I got pretty nervous when I saw him, just stood there and stared as people(his fans) approached him for pics! I now regret not running to him for a pic or two! He's such a stunner! And I'm sure he knows that by now! I love him being the aawsome actor that he is! He keep mentioning HOLLYWOOD, I just hope I get to meet him before he leaves. Dreams always becomes a reality once u believe! So Keep believing, I believe in u and I'm sure the rest of ur fans too! Its almost a year since this interviews been done and I read it for the first time now, and I saw its the only one also, should do an update on him, don't wana sound obsessed bt I would love to know more of him!
